Chandigarh: 10th death anniversary of astronaut Kalpana Chawla
PEC University of Technology organized the 10th anniversary of Astronaut Kalpana Chawla on Friday. The function was organized to commemorate her journey.
The event started by floral tribute by Prof. Manoj Datta, Director of PEC.
Kalpana Chawla was the first Indian woman astronaut who went to space and inspired millions of other women. On her death anniversary, Director of PEC, announced to set up Kalpana Chawla Centre of Excellence with the budget of 4.33 crores.
On February 1, 2003, during her re-entry into earth’s atmosphere, the Columbia space shuttle was exploded over Texas and Kalpana with six other astronauts were killed.
