IIM-B placements offer leadership roles



As many as 150 companies made 415 offers to students of the 2013 batch of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) during the final placement season, a press release from the institute said.
Sankarshan Basu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM-B, said students had been offered leadership roles in companies this year compared to the operational roles offered in previous years.

He added: “The number of offers made this year is slightly lower than last year, but that is also because this year, most offers were converted into jobs.”
Last year, 363 students got 423 offers from 126 companies.
Of these, 206 offers were made during the final placements, 124 during lateral placements, 93 were pre-placement, and 43 were overseas offers.
While the candidates selected for Reliance Industries Ltd. - Strategic Services Unit will work towards “enabling the chairman’s office to guide and set the direction of long-term strategy for RIL”, HCL Technologies enrolled candidates for the Entrepreneur@Residence initiative where they will work directly under the tech giant’s founder-chairman Shiv Nadar.
Big firms
The other companies which participated were Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Cisco, Mahindra Group, Hinduja Group, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Cipla, DTDC and Ranbaxy.
International banks such as Bank of America, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered, HSBC and Swiss investment bank UBS also visited the campus.
Private company
The placement season also saw the participation of private equity firm, the Blackstone Group (London) and consulting firms Greenwich and Roland Berger, which hired exclusively from IIM-B, offering international locations.
Consulting firms
In the consulting domain, Boston Consulting Group made 12 offers, making it the major top recruiter this year. Many students also chose marketing and sales functions.
Offers
Procter & Gamble made five offers based out of Singapore and India, while PepsiCo and Airtel offered international and Indian profiles to students selected. Other major recruiters who offered marketing roles to students were HUL, Nestle, Kraft Foods, Asian Paints, GlaxoSmithKline, L’Oreal and Nokia.
In the IT consulting domain, prominent recruiters who visited campus included Cognizant, IBM, Capgemini, Genpact and Glopore IMS.
