12-12-12: Ultimate birthday for the ultimate superstar: Rajinikanth
Celebrate the Tamilian superstar’s birthday with his top three stunts that rewrite the book on action in Indian films
It is somehow befitting that the ancient Mayan calculations about the world ending as we know it falls on the same day as India’s reel-life ‘man of steel’ celebrates his birthday.
Indeed, superstar Rajinikanth turns 62 today and if you happen to be a fan, then any doomsday scenario would probably be just an aftershock of the Tamilian legend blowing out his birthday candles on 12/12/12.
India’s answer to Chuck Norris, Rajinikanth’s fans and followers are already ready to party hard for the superstar’s birthday with some already prepared with tributes in honour of their super hero.
Earlier this week, fans Raghava Lawrence and Vijay Anthony came out with a special song to mark the occasion, with the ‘Idhu Rajni Song’ being launched as a special birthday gift that even saw wife Latha grace the occasion.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s Shankar directed blockbuster, ‘Sivaji – The Boss’ (2007) is now re-releasing in 3D on 12/12/12, as a mark of tribute.
With at least 150 movies to his credit and India’s highest civilian order of the Padma Bhushan on his mantle, the superstar has managed to stop a speeding bullet with his bare hands, out-run a bullet train, somersaulted seven times through the air to land on his feet, climbed walls with his bare hands, stopped a dagger with his bare teeth and lit a cigarette by shooting it in the air.
If others attempted such stunts, they would have been laughed out of the cinematic spotlight, but in the case of Rajinikanth, another temple is erected in his honour.
The Emirates 24|7 team takes this opportunity to pick three of the best scenes from the superstar’s heydays, wishing Rajinikanth a very happy birthday.
