Facebook testing 'reply-to-comments' feature
New Delhi: It seems like Facebook is on a revamping spree. After sound-alert notification and one-column timeline design features, another new feature that Facebook is experimenting with is the "reply button on comments".
According to a report from Mashable, Facebook is testing a new feature that would allow users to reply to a comment instead of replying to the original post. "We are testing a new way to add comments to a post on Facebook," said Meredith Chin at Facebook, adding "Now you will be able to reply to another comment as well as the original post," reported Mashable.
Currently, there is only a like button underneath the comment, but once this feature is rolled out, there will be a reply button too under every comment. This feature will make it easier to figure out who's talking to whom, but it could also turn posts/statuses into complicated message boards.
Besides this feature, the social network giant is also experimenting with two new features - sound-alert notification feature and one-column timeline design. The sound-alert notification feature makes a sound alert each time someone writes on your Timeline, sends you a message or invites you to an event.
According to Inside Facebook, the social networking service is also testing a new design with a small percentage of users that has the posts in one column instead of the current format where posts are staggered in two columns. In the new Timeline design, the Facebook publishing widget and the posts appear much wider than in the current Timeline. Inside Facebook says that Facebook has confirmed that it is testing the design but did not offer any additional information.
